Good to know

  • Choosing the right dialect matters for syntax like PostgreSQL's ::casts, MySQL backticks or SQL Server's [brackets] and TOP.
  • Formatting only changes whitespace and, if you ask, keyword case. The query runs the same.
  • Several statements separated by semicolons are formatted one after another.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I get a parse error?

Usually the dialect doesn't match the query, or the query uses template placeholders like {{ var }}. Switch dialects, or swap placeholders for :name or ? parameters first.

Is my query sent to a server?

No. Formatting runs in this tab, so queries with real table names or data stay on your device.
