About this tool
Make videos small enough to send
Phone videos are huge: a minute of 4K can be several hundred megabytes. Chat apps, email and many websites cap uploads at 10 to 25 MB, so videos get rejected or heavily recompressed by the platform. Compressing it yourself gives you control over the trade-off between size and quality.
This tool re-encodes your video to H.264 MP4, the most widely supported format, using your device's built-in video encoder. Choose a target size and it calculates the bitrate needed to land just under it; or choose a quality level and let the size follow. Lowering the resolution to 1080p or 720p keeps small files looking sharp. Unlike most online compressors, nothing is uploaded, so even private videos stay private.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a video for Discord?
Choose the 10 MB target, which matches Discord's free upload limit, and click Compress. Longer videos may need a lower resolution to keep looking good at that size.
How do I make a video small enough to email?
Most email services limit attachments to about 25 MB. Choose the 25 MB target; for long videos also choose 720p.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Compression uses the WebCodecs video API built into modern browsers.
Why is the output a little different from the target?
Encoders aim for an average bitrate, so the final size can vary slightly. The tool aims a few percent under the target to leave room.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is decoded and re-encoded on your device. That's why it's private, and also why speed depends on your computer or phone.
