URL Encode & Decode
Percent-encode text for URLs and query strings, or decode %20-style URLs back to text.
Escape text so it shows up as text inside HTML instead of being read as markup, or turn &, © and ’ back into the characters they stand for.
Paste or type to begin. Everything runs in your browser.
How it works
Choose Encode or Decode and paste your text or HTML.
When encoding, tick Encode non-ASCII to turn characters like é and — into numeric references too.
Copy the result or download it.
FAQ
Rarely. A UTF-8 page shows é and emoji as they are. Numeric references help when text passes through a system that mangles non-ASCII, like some email tools or old databases.
Nothing in the result: both are é. Numeric references work for any character; named ones exist only for a set list, but are easier to read.
