URL Encode & Decode
Percent-encode text for URLs and query strings, or decode %20-style URLs back to text.
Turn text or a file into Base64, or turn Base64 back into text. Emoji and accented letters survive the round trip, and URL-safe Base64 works both ways.
Paste or type to begin. Everything runs in your browser.
How it works
Choose Encode or Decode, then paste your text or Base64. The result updates as you type.
To encode an image or other file, click Encode a file. Tick data: URL to get a string you can paste into CSS or an <img> tag.
Copy the result or download it as a file.
FAQ
The same encoding with - and _ in place of + and /, and usually no = padding, so it can sit in a URL or filename without escaping. JWTs use it.
The Base64 holds a file, such as an image or PDF, rather than text, so there's nothing readable to show. Decode it with a tool that saves bytes to a file.
No. Encoding and decoding run in this tab with your browser's built-in functions.
